Update on TRF - Future Vision Plan Pilot

The Rotary Foundation has completed its selection of Districts to participate in the Future Vision Plan pilot for 2010-13. With sincere regret, they report that our RI District 3220 was not selected. This decision is not a reflection on the strength of our District’s involvement with the Foundation, but rather the challenging task the Foundation faced in narrowing down the applicant pool to just 100 districts that were representative of the entire Rotary world.

Continue to follow the plan’s progress at www.rotary.org/futurevision so that our District is fully prepared to make the transition in 2013.

Update on TRF - Future Vision Plan Pilot

Throughout the Rotary world, RI Districts want to be part of The Rotary Foundation Future Vision Plan pilot. By the 15 May deadline, 277 Districts (including RI District 3220, Sri Lanka) had filed an application, over half the 529 Districts that will exist as of 1 July, 2010. About 100 Districts will be chosen to participate in the pilot.

Selected Districts will help test a new Foundation grant structure. To streamline the grant-making process, the plan will offer only two grant types: Rotary Foundation District Grants and Rotary Foundation Global Grants. It also will promote strategic partnerships and refine the District Rotary Foundation committee structure.

The Future Vision pilot will begin on 1 July 2010 and run through 30 June 2013. The Foundation will use feedback from the pilot Districts to refine the plan before it is implemented globally in 2013-14.
Pilot Districts obtained the approval of at least two-thirds of their Rotary Clubs to participate. The 2010-11 pilot District Governors and Foundation Committee Chairs will complete mandatory training in 2009-10, which will help prepare the Districts for their direct role in managing Foundation grant funds. All Districts will receive training on the Future Vision Plan in 2012-13.

ProjectLINK replaces WCS & 2 RI databases

The new ProjectLINK Submission Form for Projects Seeking Support is now available for registering international service projects for posting on ProjectLINK. The new (click on) http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_doc/projectlink_form_en.doc replaces the World Community Service Project Data Form and the Rotary Volunteers International Volunteer Site Registration Form.

ProjectLINK (clik on it) is an online, searchable database listing Rotary Club and District community service projects in need of funding, volunteers, and donated goods. Rotarians can also list projects to find partners for a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant, and model projects that can be used as examples of best practices.

District Governor Nominee for 2011-12

Rtn. PP. Gehan Siribaddana from the Rotary Club of Battaramulla has been elected as the District Governor Nominee.

Rtn. PP. Thiru's decision not to challenge was intimated by his Rotary Club of Colombo Regal in which Rtn. PP. Thiru states - “I have considered the decision and the sentiments expressed by my club members and others. However, I sincerely believe that all Rotarians must accept the decision of the nominating committee, which I am sure is made with the due consideration and wisdom.

I am therefore requesting you to inform the District Governor of my decision not to challenge the District Nominating Committee’s decision under the provisions in the manual of procedure.

I have also discussed this question of challenging the Nominating Committee’s decision with my wife and also have considered the possible divisions among the clubs in the District in arriving at my decision not to challenge.

I will however avail my self to serve Rotary in whatever way when I am called upon to serve in the club or the District”.
